Eagles Win the 2008 Masters League
Murray Westphal, Wednesday, 27 February 2008Another win for the classy Eagles outfit. Eagles win the 2008 Masters Grand Final
The 2008 grand final winners for the WA Masters Baseball League is the Eagles.
Led by pitcher and third baseman Ron Malcolm the Eagles survived a last innings challenge by the Cubs to secure another win for the Masters league most succesful team.
With three hits and a match winning double play from third base Ron Malcolm was the games MVP.
The CUBS have led the season playing consistent baseball for the entire season. They again performed well in the final series and were unlucky not to win their first Masters League Grand Final.
The final game was a great game of baseball with excellent defence and offence. The game was enjoyed by a solid supportive crowd, a warm night at Baseball Park achieved a great atmosphere for the exciting contest.
The 2008 Masters season now draws to a close for this year. It has been another succesfull year for the league played with great spirit and goodwill.
Thanks to all the teams for their support and participation.
Fantastic support was received by President Bill Sinclair, Kay and Tim Timms, Doug and Rose Corker.
Next seasons competition will commence around October/November this year.
